Where is the sunny summer?

In my earlier post I had expressed my concern when I read about this summer being one of the driest. However it hadn't happen. For some weird reason or other we have been getting rain almost everyday. At least we don't have to worry about saving water for now.

Save water now

It has been predicted that this summer will be even drier than the last one so shouldn't the save water campaign begin now. It will too late to tell people to save water in the middle of summer when water shortage becomes critical. I think efforts to save water should begin now so that people become aware of it earlier and will do something to reduce water usage. I don't understand why the authorities don't make use of weather forecast reports to make sure we don't face water shortage year in, year out.

Reduce, Reuse or Recycle?

I have been thinking a lot about improving the planet and the campaign that has been going on to make people more aware of preserving the environment. The slogan 'Reduce, Reuse and Recycle' has been often use to encourage people to save the environment. I think of the three the most important is REDUCE. There is limit to the amount one can recycle or reuse stuff. Reducing comsupmtion of energy, fuel, food etc even by 10% can have a very significant effect on the environment. Furthermore the less we use, the less there will be to reuse or recycle. So lets all start reducing everything. We don't need to have 200 pairs of shoes or 4 TV sets in the same household.

Should the internet be regulated more?

This is a difficult question to answer but one that needs attention. There are more and more reports of abuse on the internet and it is high time something is done. I have mixed feelings about regulating the internet. Too much regualtion will definitely encroach on individual freedom of expression and too little regulation will result in more people becoming victims to scams, extremist propaganda etc. There should be a balance but how do one determine this balance? If anyone has some ideas about this do drop me a note.

What can I do to help the environment?

I have been reading and watching a lot about the environment lately. It looks like our activities is increasingly putting a heavy burden on the environment and if nothing is done quickly we all may have to suffer greatly. I have started doing little things around the house to help improve the environment. One of the first things I did is to replace all my light bulbs to energy saving ones. I have also started to reduce my heating to 20 degrees instead of 25 or 30 degrees.

Whaling must stop

Why I ask does man need to kill everything around him? Don't we already have enough to eat and satify our appetite? What has the whale done that man must go on killing these beautiful creatures of the oceans? I simply can't understand how people can be so greedy and cruel and vote to lift the ban on whaling. It is estimated that in the coming year alone 200 whales will be brutally killed every month.

I have been thinking a lot about making money from my website/blog and I have come to the conclusion that the basic principle should be a win-win situation between the visitors to my website/blog and I. I had thought of many options to make money on the web but I think the best would be to create a situation where both parties gain something. I have decided to make available all kinds of info on my website for visitors so that they feel it has been worthwhile visiting my website/blog.
