The weight loss battle

gareth southam's picture

Back in December 2008 I took one massive risk with my life and I left my 90k a year job to fix up my health and life style. I was a business development manager for an alcohol company. The work was stressful and I would spend long amounts of time driving from one end of the N.S.W south coast to the other and was enjoying my life much. So I took the risk to change all my bad habits that where in my life.I took Christmas off and sat down to put together how I would lose weight.
So on the first of January I stared to turn things around I was 141kgs at the start of the year. I started by getting a gym membership that week. But as time went on I found that doing 5km runs in the bush when its 35-40 degrees was more my thing. I was pushing a 141kgs thro the bush every day in summer. Also while taking the journey of weight loss I was searching for casual work to get me by I have had 6 rejections but its hard time out there.
But everything came crashing down in late March when my best mate and the man that was pushing and backing from the start, took his own life. I was going to give up on everything I was a wreck. But I did not give up. I kept going as of today have lost 27kg and still falling I started at 141 no I am at 114.I would love to help others start the weight loss journey and show them no matter how things are in your life you can turn it around I think I need to tell my story and help people who are fighting obesity in their life. If I can help one man turn around his life from an early grave I think that would be more important than my 90k job a year I left. Because if no one puts there hand out to offer help they can’t find it.
please put forward you idear's and story to help drive other people.
