Who was Confucius? Short summary!

adrian's picture

Confucius was a moral and political philosopher in ancient China during the Spring and Autumn Period. He lived from 551-479 BC. It wasn’t until the Warring States period when the Confucian ideas were spread around China. His teachings are preserved in the “Analects” are still widely looked up to, today. Many of his ideas are published in the Classics (ie the Four Books, the Five Classics, Nine Classics and Thirteen Classics). However, Confucius lived so long ago, it is hard to differ right now, the facts and the fictitious legends. His teachings were also used for civil service examinations in various dynasties in Imperial China. All in all, Confucius revolutionized China socially, politically and morally, during his time.
